Tom Russell - Love & Fear; sort of rough west Texas country folk rock.

The songs The Pugilist at 59 and Stealing Electricity are worth the price by themselves.

I recently was introduced to Imogen Heap and really like her, especially "Hide and Seek"...

Just downloaded some Three Days Grace and a bunch of Fuel too...

And some more Christmas music... I listen to it all year round Smile

Uh... that's like comparing the Palace Brothers to the Smothers Brothers.

Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking there! Embarassed

Anyways, I just thought I'd pop my head back into this thread to say that if you haven't heard of Nick Drake, do yourself a favour and get some of his music. His music is genius and was way before it's time.

Of your several recommendations I like these three best, and I had no idea who John Butler Trio was until an hour ago: they were on Live Earth, and are a lot like Dave Mathews Band, and that's not totally a bad thing for those of us who like a mix of folksy, jazzy elements in their rock.

A lot of interesting music in this thread, but dang!...it's really hard to find a lot of the bands mentioned.

Too bad we don't have our own private network/server to share this stuff. I mean, for expats living in Korea...the speeds would be phenomenal.

Maybe not the exact same but still similar. Try:

The Knife - Silent Shout
Death in Vegas - Dead Elvis and Scorpio Rising
Daft Punk - Human After All

Maybe, maybe

Apoptygma Berzerk - Harmonizer

The last band was a gothy band that changed into futurepop. I think that album is the best futurepop album, better than VNV Nation or Assemblage 23.

#1 in Canada the last six weeks is this American hit: "Apologize"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHfyDxy8i5o

Great choral sound but threadbare lyrics.

The band is One Republic and their debut album was released two weeks ago. I like their "Goodbye Apathy":

And their "Come Home" speaks to me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvA7Ej9N_5Y

-----------------------------------

And here's a solid rock 'n roll tune from an unlikely singer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx8f8Jjzcoc

And Celine Dion with a Middle Eastern twinge:
