True to my 'handle' and avitar, I've booked a Med. cruise. The itinerary includes: Italy, Greece, Turkey, Rhoads, Cyprus and Egypt. Post-cruise, I'll spend a couple of days in Rome before returning to K-land to start the new school year. Cant wait!
P.S. Yes, I'm trying to 'rub it in'.  |

cruisemonkey on a cruise,... surprise surprise
I'll be jealous of those who go on cruises when I'm, say, in my sixties. It's right up there among things to do when I retire alongside taking the trans-Siberian railroad.
There ARE trips to take now before one is too old to appreciate the rigors of them: like travelling India without being part of a tour. Or scuba diving the Maldives.
Note that this thread is not on the travel forum: because a cruise is not really travelling, though walking around the port towns for a couple of hours approximates it. |

My last cruise was three years ago (before moving to Korea) when I 'hooked up' onboard with a ravishingly beautiful Austrian model who was working on on her Ph.D. We were in Antarctica at the time... almost generated enough heat to melt the ice cap and raise sea level several feet. 
Since moving to Korea, I've done 'land' vacations to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia and Indonesia. Don't get me wrong, stoking the fire in one's ger, drinking home-made Mongolian 'vodka' out of an old, motor oil container and galloping across the vast, wide open steppes of central Asia on horse-back is fun; but I'm now ready to go back to an inexpensive, giant, floating, all-inclusive (almost, I paid an extra $16/day for a unlimited wine & beer 'package') moving, luxury resort. Twenty-four hour room service, buffets and the dining room... all with NO Korean food on the menu! Woo Hoo! |

We have not been back home in over three years. I think that my brother's and sister's have forgot what we have looked liked. |

VanIslander, I have 3 options left:
1) Ottawa, Canada from Jan 26 to Feb 8. As December 1 in Ottawa is -17C I know the question is...where's your head at?
2) Phuket. Apart from the natural disaster-beaches, warm weather and sand.
3) Auckland.
I hate to say it because I am a sentimental jerkass-I think Number 1 wins |

Hmmm... in May, when I finished my last contrast, I took 4 months off, & went to China, Mongolia, Russia, & Australia, with a brief sojourn in Japan to renew my visa. I spent 2 weeks in Thailand in January 07, & 2 weeks in Japan, & Busan > Sokcho in August 2006.
My longterm plans, are for a visit to the Canadian Rockies, & Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Zion, The Arches, Bryce Canyon & Yosemite, in October/ November next year.
I don't feel deprived of travel at all. |

My school has planned a trip to Japan for 4 days 5nights (huh?) For 400k won, I might tag along. Depends on my camp schedule.
More than likely, I will head to the Philippines. I have some unfinished business I need to attend to. If not, then I'll head to Japan via ferry and get some things done. If not Japan, probably Vladivostok. There's something/someone I need to do there.
Less likely, I'll head home. Unless there's some pressing business, I'm not liking the ticket prices right now.
Even less likely, I'll head deep south to Thailand or Cambodia. From what I've heard, if a man travels alone there, they get added to the pedo watch list. So, unless I'm traveling with a group, I don't wanna end up in some mix up list or wind up mistakenly on some "To Catch a Predator" show.

Me: Yeah of course. I used to watch your show!
Chris Hansen: Then you know why you're here in Thailand.
