American Gangster...(everyone was too damn earnest and serious sheesh slowest freaking gangster movie ever...Godfather now that's a gangster movie)
The debacle that was "The Black Dahlia" What an incredible load of crap.
Sadly disappointed in Spidey 3. Pick one villain people.
Perfume-- could that have been any more ridiculous. I think not.
Kinda liked Zodiac.
Please forgive me Korea...but...D-WARS oh dear gawd time I will never get back! Wish I could sue.

I fell asleep 20 minutes into Shrek 3 (and I never fall asleep in theaters). My date was not impressed.

I put it off for a while due to time issues, but after all the badmouthing it got in this thread, I finally sat down to watch it. As a self-professed afficionado of B-movies, I was actually looking forward to watching a terrible movie. D-War does not disappoint. What a fucking Piece. Of. Shit! Full of visuals, but empty of anything resembling story, acting, or logic. Wow! "Horrifically bad" and "The end result of a botched home abortion" do not do it justice.
In other words: I loved it! If it were not for the special effects, I would easily, EASILY, put this godforsaken soul-crushing movie in my Top 5 of All Time. Strangely enough, my Top 5 of All Time already has three other Korean flicks in it: D-War's (and directors Shim's) predecessor Yonggary, Bichunmu (with Shin Hyun-joon and Kim Hee-sun), and Chunsa-mong (with Lee Na-young). Considering that these movies beat out such craptacular "movies" such as Moon Zero Two (complete with six-gun shootouts on the surface of the moon), Mighty Jack (a Japanese live action version of the Thunderbirds), and other classics like Deathrace 2000... that's saying a lot for their craptasticness.
Congratulations to D-War on joining the godawful craperrific elite. |

It looked cool on the posters. I didn't know it was done by a Korean director. I thought it was another of those Hollywood Blockbuster Special Effect movies like War of the Worlds or something. I didn't expect a great story. But I expected better than that, and no nationalistic crap.

Trannyformers.
Major disappointment. |

D-War wasn't that big of a disappointment to me, because I didn't expect much, and basically knew it would suck huge.
Transformers was yet another Hollywood graphics show in desperate need of a script. |

Lust Caution--maybe Ang Lee's worst movies.
Lions For Lambs---historcally bad
ditto The Kingdom...
Horror--the Mist and Room 94 or whatever room it was...
Think about it it's been a bad year..
Only good movies I can remeber seeing in a while were the Darjeeling Limited and No Country....
Maybe I'm forgetting some though. |

Some of these nominations are really just bad movies, such as Spiderman 3, rather than overrated movies. I plummed for Zodiac because it got such a sycophantic reception from the film press who seemed to mistake depth for sheer dullness.
I also couldn't believe the hype that surrounded The Host, which I had expected to really like. I saw on dvd quite recently and just found it very average. |

This year has been extremely bad for movies.
I nominate American Gangster...watch the oscar race...10,000won says they will get nominated
on a lighter note-watched a strange movie last night called King of Kong about two guys battling for the top donkey kong score...if you are a "trekkies" fan this is a must see. |

D-War is both. Nothing beats the hype surrounding D-War. |

Bourne (whatever the 3rd one was called) ~ Rubbish, but there again, the first 2 didn't really do anything for me.
Spiderman 3 ~ *Shakes head* Jesus.
Pirates of the Caribbean 3 ~ See above.
Contract ~watched this last night and was very disappointed given how much I generally enjoy both Morgan Freeman and John Cusack movies.
I've got a copies of:
The Kingdom
American Gangster
Rescue Dawn
to watch tonight so I'll give my verdicts during the week.
Zeitgeist has been my favourite movie this year. |
Rescue Dawn was borring.
The Kingdom is a good movie.
Thanks for the Zeitgeistmovie link.....I'm watching it now |

^Couldn't watch it as the sound was crap.
I bought 4 dvds for 10,000 of a street vendor, 3 of which are fine (American Gangster, Contract and Rescue Dawn) while The Kingdom (which looked pretty good from the first 15-minutes) proved to be the runt of the batch. |

That's too bad. Of those 4, it's by far the best of the bunch. |

Spiderman 3 was disappointing on many levels. Why put Venom in it at all if you hardly ever see him in action and then kill him off?
Elizabeth: The Golden Age was also pretty disappointing. You can tell that the Spanish Armada is Huuuuuuge by the shot of a forest being cut down...not by, ya know, actually showing thousands upon thousands of ships. I was also expecting to see a strong, witty Elizabeth--not an emotional basket-case getting all weak-kneed for Sir Walter Raleigh. Additionally, if you're going to play up the giant sea battle in the trailer, it would help if they actually showed a giant sea battle. Also, who decided that they needed the camera to continuously circle Elizabeth? Finally, my friend commented that the movie looked like it was made by an interior decorator.
Ghost Rider was pretty bad too, not that i expected anything much out of it.
As for the Transformers knockers? Who expected a movie based on an 80s cartoon about transportation that turns into fighting robots to be good? I wanted to see fighting robots and that's what i saw. |

| Juno was rated 93% on rottentomatoes. It was contrived, disjointed, and flat. There was Dawson's Creek vocabulary without appropriate context. |

I expected to see an action movie based on a video game...and
HITMAN
was still far, far, far worse then I expected. It actually made no sense. I could not figure out ANYTHING about the movie. Not the plot, not the characters, nothing. It made NO sense at all. |
