I am looking to make free calls either PC to US or Korean mobile phone to the US. Free calls from US phones to Korean mobile phones would work too.

I searched through a few service that offer things like this, but it seems like they make it hard to find all the restrictions. Closest I've found so far:

Jajah: Free Korea<->US calling but the Korean phone must be a landline

Gizmo: Free PC to US calls, but you have to be an "active" user which includes using their mobile system, and my phone can't do it.

There's got to be something out there I can use, anyone know what?

Listen tightwad...just use Skype like normal people do. It is almost free and easy to use. Nothing is free and long distance calling is probably never free.

It's not a calling service; it's just a voice and chatting program, but it's free, and works perfectly: Ventrilo 2.3.0

Here's a brief explanation:

Ventrilo 2.3.0 is the next evolutionary step of Voice over IP (VoIP) group communications software.

It works as long as one person has the server program, and the people you want to talk to have the basic program. All you need is a mic and speakers.

Thanks, but the person I want to call has satellite internet (700ms latency) so I don't think it would work too well.

I don't know of any way that is free, but I use Gizmo Project and pay something like 1.9 cents a minute for VOIP. A 30 minute call would be about 57 cents.

Too cheap to spring for a phone call?

As a would be Canadian homosexual pedophile. I can call all my Thai transvestite lovers for little more than a lad on the streets of Saigon would ask for a little "short time".

Ok here is my big secret..

you can call from PC to landline in many countries using VoipStunt.

http://www.voipstunt.com

the catch is you can only talk for 5 mins... then it disconnects and you have to recall... take only a few seconds though...

I think if you pay $10 you can unlimited calling...

anyway hope it helps... if not you then others Smile

Well you can pay for them, and I'll use the free VOIP program.

MSN's live messenger works pretty well if the other person has a decent connection. The video call is better than a phone call.

Well its not free, but its with local calling rates. Call 1600-0030 and then the international number you're trying to call, followed by the # sign when you're done. The full syntax for my home in the US would be:

1600-0030 - 001 - 1 - 816 - *** - **** - #.

You get an international call to most countries (but not India) for local calling rates.

You should listen to this advice.

Skype is the best...especially if your friend has Sat. connection. My parents have something like that for internet...really crappy, but Skype video and sound work like a charm. Skype to Skype is free.

This is quite interesting. Could you call Korea from the US this way?

Also will take a look at voip stunt, and thanks for all the input. (Except you, flamers. Shame on you.)

Are you sure about the free 5 minute calls from viopstunt? I looked through their website and it says 300 free minutes a week for 120 days AFTER you deposit money ($10 minimum?).

So have you used it recently? I don't think you get the free five minute calls anymore, since I didn't see that anywhere on the website...

Ok guys, I think I may have found one! iCall claims free calls to the US and Canada with no restrictions. Going to try it out tonight when I get home!
