They opened a new Technomart at Sindorim (where line 2 and 1 meet south river). I went there Sunday. I think the place just opened this weekend. Much like Space 9 when it first opened, it was pretty empty of vendors. Seems to be the Korean way. Don't get the tenants and then build. Build and then get the tenants.
Anyway, I'd say don't bother for a few months. Also, for a new facility, the place is architecturally dead. Just a huge box. No cool facilities, public spaces, nice vistas.

Just imagine! A shop run by a knowledgeable English-speaker! Who can make a custom-order PC using good-quality components. Then install English OS and tweak the whole thing for you!!
Probably go out of business within 6 months.........  |

Saying that, my PC was built at Technomart (Gangbyeon) and the guy spoke English almost flawlessly. It turns out he lived in Australia for 11 years. I was able to get exactly what I wanted without having to resort to my crap broken Korean. But still, that was a fluke find amongst the dozens of vendors. A big sign saying 'I speak English' would probably do wonders for his business! |

| You'd think some of those flawless English-speaking computer vendors might do well to put up some big "English Spoken Here" signs. Rarely have I gone to Yongsan when I didn't have to play impromptu interpreter for some hapless whitey-shopper & hapless K-vendor. EZ Guide at Sunin Plaza in Yongsan has at least one or two passable Engrishee shpeakuhs. |

He wasn't in the corner, if I remember rightly but I do remember he called himself Jay. His prices seemed fair enough and he knew his onions when it came to PCs and gaming. |

I wonder if it's a shame thing. Like if you hang out your shingle announcing good english skills, the other vendors aren't going to invite you to their soju parties after. |

Right. Could be another example of how Koreans spend years of their life and a small fortune to learn English then spurn chances to use it in case other Koreans think they are being in some way a show-off or superior. You just can't win when you're a Korean. |

| I've been going to the newer Yongsan station market, which is actually inside the same building as Yongsan station and E-mart. It's really grown, and most floors are packed, although the video game floor on the top still has a lot of openings. Lots of PS3 stuff up there. |

Space 9 which is now know as I'Park Mall. Yeah that's been in major transition. I remember when it first opened "space" was the operative word. Lots of empty shops. Not as bad as the new technomart, mind you. But it rather quickly filled with vendors. Then gmarket and web stores really took off. Lots of the electronics stuff had to be converted to furniture and other goods. I do like going there and seeing some of the ugly couches for sale. Man, Koreans with money have some bad taste in furniture, if for what is on sale is any indication. They try to decorate their apartments like Korean wedding halls. |
