sorry to start yet another thread on this, but thought folks would want to know this.
i just received an email from my director. Immigration will make its official announcement concerning the new regulations December 7th.
I share your frustration with this situation. I'm constantly looking for info or some word on what is going on. I've had the TAs at my school calling immi looking into the proposed changes and our options for dealing with them.
I've been told if you are renewing, you will just need crim check and med report. I don't think you will need to fly home to your native countries.
guess we just wait and see now.

I fully expect that E2's currently working in Korea will be happy to learn that they will no longer need to leave the country to work elsewhere after their contract is up. |

Are you saying if I change jobs at the end of my contract, I don't have to go on a visa run? This is news to me.
Will people who need background checks need to go to their home countries to get them? |

Hell no. The annual paid vacation to Japan is probably the best thing about working here. |
