This is my first post and I'm really frustrated, so please forgive any spelling or other errors. My boss has just informed me that she wants me to work the week that is scheduled as Christmas break. I am ready to scream. All of our kindy Korean teachers get it off, but my British coworker and I have to work it. This is a clear violation of my contract. I don't want to quit, but I might have to; my coworker and I are in agreement on how we feel about this. Other than quitting, what can we do to make this harder on her than it's worth (she is doing this because she doesn't want to refund anything to our afternoon classes)? Yes, I know I will be able to find another job quickly, but other than this it has been great working here, and I've been here for seven months, I'd just like to make it through the next five months and go home and never come back.

you and your co-worker just gotta be firm with her and stick with your contract. No ands/ors/buts.

if she still insists that you work on those days, call in sick. you got sick days right?

We only have three days each. My coworker's mom is coming out, so she is even more upset than I am. My boss is "calling the head office" right now (I don't know how that will help we're a franchise). I think we're both just so frustrated; plus, we just found out all the Korean kindy teachers knew last week (we have two Korean English teachers that will have to work too, they aren't happy either). I was planning on coming back next year and teaching at a public school, but this little thing has just made me want to never see Korea again.
