Well I don't know what an army style one is, but a real push-up should take about 1.5 seconds.

Ok but i'm obviously reffering to form here not timing, i.e straight back, elbows parallel, chest hitting ground etc.

Nope, not *beep*. For the record, i weigh in a 111 kg's and can easily whip out 50 army style push up's in 30 seconds. I did play a lot of sport as a youth and have been semi consistent with weight training the last 12 months.

This reminds of 'The Bloodhound Gang' song 'I wish I was queer so I could chicks'

My friend Jerry Vandergrift kissed me in Home Ec. class
Later in the afternoon some jarheads in the locker room kicked my ass
I said guys I'm like you I like Monster Trucks too
Wanna see how many push-ups I can do?

Hsy, that's fighting words, don't make me put my push up power to less than savoury usage.

Well, the majority of your comments suited me. I wanted to get the pull up/chin up thing straight, cause I can do 12 pull ups and about 9 chin ups. I don't use form for these though, so your advice may make it more challenging.

I'm an avid athlete and run too. I swim about 30 50m laps, lift a few weights, and hike. But I'm at that age you're not sure if you should push yourself as hard as you used to, so I'm looking to taper off if I'm pushing myself too hard, especially since I've lower back pain, a shoulder injury; my knees hurt after a long jog and I've aches and pains elsewhere.

I can still do fifty push ups though, but have decreased these to forty.

I used to play football, baseball, basketball, and swam. Team sports are not for me anymore though. But guys my age are taking to grown up team sports where I live, and some can swim and run much, much farther than I can.

Just remember Pops, the 40 year old football star.

All this really makes you wonder if age is just a number. Yet I liked what someone said here about watching your diet. This much is very true, at my age.

Actually all this indicates how I got the nickname 'Rock.' But that was 16 years ago.
