Deal with it in March (immi won't even truly implement the changes).

I am a Brit in Korea whose visa expires at the end of March.

I think (80% sure) I will be renewing my visa when it comes time for it to expire.

Would you recommend doing it before the 15th of this month or wait until March to worry about it?

If I choose to renew in March, will there be all the hoops to jump through or do you believe that immigration will have forgotten all about it/cant be arsed to implement it?

Cheers.

My contract finishes up at the end of February and my Uni is so slow to get new contracts made up that the fastest I could renew would be around the last two weeks before the beginning of March. I've got a pretty decent job already set up in China, but I'll wait to see how things play out here as well. If it is easy to renew I'll stay and will just cancel on the China job. If not I'm gone, and will return perhaps in a year. For me it all hangs on the criminal record check. If there is a no tolerance policy I'll have to wait on my pardon to come through later this year. If a DUI seven years ago will end my contract here prematurely that's a shame and I'll do my best to send letters back to the Canadian government to have every Korean there supply criminal record checks for whatever employment they have and be kicked out if anything shows up on their records. Or at least, such a letter would make me feel a bit better about it all.

I understand that you can't process a visa if you are still on one. Is this correct?

I also heard that you can't renew a visa with the same employer until you have less than 2 months left on your current visa.

Who knows, just try what you need to try and see what you get done.

True. You have to have 2 monhs or less left on your current visa before you can renew it. March is more than 2 months.
