Immi are confirming most rumors today.
Not sure if this is old news or not....but letters have gone out in Korean to schools this morning...
Criminal checks must be done..we knew that
No Japan visa runs..we knew this.
Medical tests in Korea after completing a yes or no medical form..I read the form today.
The form asks:
Have you have been addicted to alcohol?
Have you taken any narcotics?
Have you have any infectious diseases?
Have you ever received treatment for mental, emotional or neurotic disorders?
Are or were you HIV positive?
Have you had any serious diseases or injuries in the last 5 years?
You will need to submit this form with your visa docs.
You will need to have a medical in Korea before 90 days to get your Alien Registration Card.
If there is any evidence that anything is misleading or untruthful you are out!
NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS.....
Yes, you will have to have an interview at the consulate in your juristiction before being issued with the E2 visa.
There is an interview checklist being published today...have not read this yet.
If you have not completed at least 9 months of your present contract you must return home to get the visa.
If you have completed at least 9 months of a contract you can transfer your visa over to a new employer.
I don't know what applicants will do if they are in another country.
e.g. If you are in Thailand now, you MAY have to return to the USA to get your visa done....I am not sure...this has not been made clear.
So 2 weeks after letting on that the consulate interviews were off the table, Immi has now backflipped and they are back on...and it seems to stay.
I think Korea just lost 20% of annual applicants.
Ramifications????
There will be plenty. |

20%? More like 50%. I'm gonna wait and see what my employer has to say about this crap. |

Yeah, if I have to fly home for an interview on my own dime, I just might stay there. |

Interesting information, but I have pretty much considered every thread on this of little true value.
The fact remains, we just don't know, until we get official word.
When official word comes, I'll look at that. |

I'm also going to wait and see until there's an official piece of paper with all these requirements listed on it before I believe anything. Moderators, can we please delete posts about new E2 visa regulations until something official is released? All this speculation is frankly irritating and annoying. |

Which one of the hagwon association presidents sucked off immigration to pass the above rule? |

Yeah, watch me scrape my forehead on the ground as I kowtow to Immi for the chance to be blasted with more kimchi farts at the gym and on the buses. |

Don't read it if your annoyed.
I find speculation rumor and innuendo to be stimulating.
It's nice to know the possibilities ahead of time.
Especially when the probabilities are unavailable.
Last year at this time contracts were available in EPIK things were definite
planning was easy. This year everyone is in limbo, some less reliable
information is better than no information at all. |

Translating official immi statement now.
It was sent in Korean.
There is an ammendment to the interviews:
if you have had experience in Korea there is no interview at a consulate.
I will post the translated version and add the link as soon as it is done. |

I'd like to second this. People are speculating or asking questions Immigration does not even know the answer to yet, much less anyone on this board. It's ridiculous and a waste of time. |

Condensing information = good idea
Calling people's posts a waste of time = you are the one choosing to read it
Aussiekimchi at least says he's go an official document in Korean, so it's not a waste of time to hear new information on this important, involving issue. |

Huh? I'm 3 months into my contract. I have to get a new visa, NOW? Are all contracts null and void or something?
I guess I'm reading this wrong or I'm dumb, but I don't know what this means. |
