I teach students at a false beginner level, which I prefer. I like the low levels best because it's so much easier to gauge their progress, and you feel like you're really making an impact on their learning.
How about you? Which ability level do you prefer, and why? |

I also enjoy most the false beginner level. They're adult, so you don't have to mess with teenybopperism or worse; they already know the grammar, so you don't have to spend much time on that; and they make such rapid progress that they keep their enthusiasm longer.
Hurray for adult false beginners! |

I wish I could say that I could distinguish my learners using your gamut.
Unfortunately, mine tend to sit on a ever depreciating scale of crapness, plain crap being the highest. |

Beginners from grade 2 or 3. Just as long as I teach them for 2 years or more.
I don't know. It's hard to measure. I like having smalle-size classes for a long time. You get better as time goes and your latest class benefits the most if they have you for long enough. |
