Hey. I am curious what is the best way to get my bulldog back to canada?

Bulldogs can't fly, so I need to find an alternative.

Cruise over with him? or ship him some how?

I haven't been able to find any decent boats going out of korea to canada though.
the ones I have are about 20 grand and go to like 10 other places first.

I think you will find that most dogs can't fly. Birds can fly as can bats. Sadly not dogs.

It would be pretty good though if they could, although I would be a bit worried about the turds falling on me.

wow... not really imformative.

Actually. Kal El has been know to fly often with out the aid of metal wings. He is the last son of krypton after all... However, he is feeling tired as the pollution in korea cuts out a lot of the suns raise and could use the break from his powers of strength.

If anyone has any other ideas, preferably those without kryptonite, it would be much appreciated.

Are you sure bulldogs can't fly? Where di you find that information? Airlines make different rules about which dogs can and can't fly, so you should check into all of htem taht are available to you. ALso, if you fly your dog as unaccompanie cargo (instead of one of yoru checked items ) the restrictions are a little more loose.

Suggestion wise then

Take a boat to China then the trans-siberian railway to Moscow. Train to Paris then a boat from France to Canada or England then france.

Should only take a few months.

is it a full sized bulldog or one of those wee ones?

He's an english bulldog. little now. but will be bigger as he grows up.

It's not that the airline actually has an inpact on him flying. He's a bulldog, and has a smaller nasal cavity. Most pug faced dogs can't fly. Something to do with the change in cabin pressure and the varing temperatures of the cargo holds. They can't breathe and suffocate. Where did I get the informjation? Several sources.

This was taken from the first airline site I checked.. but info can also be found one basic pet care sites as well.

"Additional Restrictions for Pug or Snub-nosed Dogs and Cats
Pug or snub-nosed dogs and cats are not hot-weather animals and therefore do not thrive in warm temperatures. As a precaution, Delta will not accept them as checked baggage or as air cargo if the temperature on any part of their trip exceeds 70 degrees F.

Well, our pug has made 2 transpacific flights just fine and is about to make a third (and hopefully last) in a few weeks. She's had no problems. She's flown as cargo twice (but the pets are held in a pressurized area just like humans) and will fly as checked baggage for the first time just before christmas.

So, as long as you are careful, and fly your dog when it's cool weather, you'll be OK. Get your dog used to the kennel for sveral weeks before the flight (ours has her bed inside hers right now). Unless you dog is very old, he should be alright.

Edit: NWA all three times. They are quite pet friendly

NWA seems pretty good taking a pup on them soon...although they have reg regarding those dogs you mentions but more to do with the cold...you should be able to fly your bulldog just fine most of the year accept during extreme cold....BUT if he's small enough still NWA allows dogs to come on as carry ons in which case the temp wont matter

thanks... I'll look into them.

He's small now. but he will probably be too big for a carry on when I go back to canada. I'm leaving in july.

How does it usually work for food and bathroom breaks? 12 hour flights are a bit long for a dog. I'm sure it wouldn't kill him. but he probably wouldn't be happy at all.

Your dog has to stay in the cage the whole time. I would never take a dog in the cabin on a transpacific flight. By the time you get there, they will have been in that thing for 20 hours or more and they smell awful. Just check him. It's easier for you and your dog will have more room to move around (assuming you get a nice size kennel for him). We bought a kennel twice as big as our dog needs so that she can walk around a bit and not have to sleep in her own poop. In the pressurized baggage area for pets its dark, the sounds of hte engine, etc put your dog to sleep pretty quickly i imagine.

EEK. I just noticed you are leaving in July. Do you have someone in Candad that could keep the dog for a couple of months?

We flew ours back in May as unaccompanied cargo to avoid the summer embargo (we left in June). She stayed with family during that time and was fine.

It can be a bit tricky getting it all sorted. Good luck!
