I will assume that BoA went to an English hagwon at some point in her young life. Wouldn't it have been interesting to have taught such a remarkable person at an early age, and see her grow up? Perhaps she had a private tutor instead.
Has anyone taught a student in Korea (or elsewhere) who later became a very famous or successful person? Most of us will never be in Korea long enough to see a young learner become an adult but some of my past students have been very bright and determined for their age and it would be amazing to see how they turn out in 15-20 years. |

From what I understand, she was privately schooled and groomed to her current status by her handlers since she was a wee one.
I wonder if the future face of music will all be eugenics experiments like this? |

I've had some university students who were or later became 'famous'. Off the top of my head: a pro-baseball player, a former pop star, a few pro-gamers, people in lesser-known pop and rock groups, one or two rather well-known 'backdancers', and a TV writer. I'm sure there have been others that I'm not aware of. |

Yes, a talent agency offered a similar deal to my friends (they saw their daughter at a talent show). They refused. |

Don't record companies already do this in the west? |

The elementary school kids I taught when I first came here seven years ago are just a blur now. Except for about 1% who were exceptional and stick out in my mind. But even then, I don't know their Korean names (never did) and wouldn't recognize them now if they hit me in the face with a frying pan. |

I think the correct term is "backup dancer," but Koreans say "back dancer." |

I'm pretty sure that her handlers who were having sex with her didn't want whiteys interfering. Most probably Korean that speaks English really well. And her English sucks ass. |

I once tutored a child whose father is the founder of a (very) famous brand name here, but that was in my hometown. The mother, of who the company is named after, is very humble and thrifty. I was extremely surprised. She is a good person.
Also tutored some very family-wealthy multi-multi millionaires.
But, perhaps for the better, no superstars. |
