Mine was just processed in November (visa run on the 8th, school submitted papers a week or so after that, I got my card and passport back today), and I had nothing to be notarized, no extra interviews, no medical check, nothing. So you should be golden. |

E7's are NOT included in the proposal. |

You 100% percent sure? I'm locked in until July and have been trying to monitor the progress of the new visa rules, but it's been so wishy-washy that I honestly have no idea whether I should do anything or not. I've seen E-2 and F-2 mentioned, but E-7 seems to get skipped right over... |

I will be renewing my contract, so it seems I don't have to follow the stipulations for E2. To the poster who said about returning home, I'm sure that is way off the mark. |

I renewed my E-7, earlier this year, without leaving the country. As far as I am aware, that is still the case.
Moosehead, the E-7 application depends upon the ministry that is dealing with it. It can be a smooth ride or a long haul (mine was the latter). My application required a letter from a government ministry supporting the claim that a Korean national could not do the work. As it is not teaching related, they are sometimes very strict. What sort of work is it that you are looking at doing? |

hi thanks for the reply
i'll be editing english language text written by koreans for both korean students and also non-native esl students; it is part of curriculum development for international schools - also i'll be doing some research into english edu standards as set by western schools;
how did you go about getting the letter you mentioned above? do you know?
fyi, i also talked to someone in immi today and said NO CHANGES for E7s that it shouldn't be a problem at all; hopefully so. |

From one of the ministries. Immigration would know. Get your boss to contact them specifically concerning an E-7. Your boss fills out some sort of form or letter or something, sends it off, and the ministry looks it over and either approves or denies it.
The rest of the E-7 stuff is easy, but the ministry thing can prove to be a pain. |

My employer had to contact the relevant ministry to get the letter. Initially, they were refused and told to go to a different ministry. Following a refusal at the second ministry, Immigration finally accepted that I was 'needed' and approved the visa. At least, this is what I was told. I don't know why the request was passed around so much.
Apparently, I was the first person in Korea to get an e-7 under these circumstances - don't ask me what the circumstances are as, almost 2 years later, I am still not clear (actually, I don't give a rats anymore).
Your application sounds like it will be much easier. Just make sure you have an accurate resume, diploma, transcripts, guarantee letter, and you should be okay. |
