Higher levels of reality can only be experienced by higher levels of consciousness. Materialistic science will always be limited in its scope and mired in ignorance as to the essential nature of life. Impressive technological advances amount to so much material glitter that tends to blind us from seeing the ultimate intelligent cause.

Since the source of all consciousness is an infinitely conscious sentient being, the aim of knowledge should be to understand our relationship with that absolute person...

Because of greed and corruption, many people with low levels of spiritual realization have nonetheless posed as big religionists, spiritualists, mystics, and yogis for material gain. Unfortunately, this has generated violent sectarian conflicts and has caused many people to lose faith...

On the other hand, sincere people like George Harrison, although clearly not perfect, selflessly contributed (and risked...) a great deal by spreading faith, devotion and understanding of God in a nonsectarian way through his inspired music and charitable example... |

No. You would not let a materialistic evolutionary scientists off that easy. You can't let some pot smoking *beep* monger who professed your faith off that easily. Seems your faith doesn't work for everyone. |

Although following rules and regulations is important - especially for neophytes - in order to advance in spiritual consciousness, the main thing is to somehow develop love of God, utilizing whatever talents and resources one has in loving devotional service...

Incidental or accidental falldowns on the spiritual path due to revival of bad habits by mundane association does not ultimately disqualify a sincere soul from attaining complete success.

The splendor of the moon's beauty is not ruined by some pock marks ...

Many tributes have been made to George Harrison by devotees for all he did to spread Krishna consciousness, and he pleased his spiritual master greatly with his humble devotional mood...

Here is one brief memorial tribute:

GEORGE HARRISON

By Shymasundara and Mukunda Maharaja (the two old friends who were with George at the time of his passing.)

George Harrison has probably done more than any single popular cultural figure during these past few decades to spread spiritual consciousness around the world.

He transferred his perceptions of a state of being beyond and higher than ordinary consciousness into the words and music that altered millions of lives.

Along the way he became the friend and devoted servant of Bhaktivedanta Swami ("Prabhupad"), founder of the Hare Krishna movement. George's relationship with the Hare Krishnas was deep and long abiding since he met them in the late sixties.

During his last days, Krishna devotees were by his side and he left his body to the sounds of the Hare Krishna mantra..

The devotees of Prabhupad are eternally grateful to George Harrison for his boundless services to all living beings.

Yeah, and one of his targets was Mia Farrow. A song was written about it. |

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is basically a shrewd businessman who popularized and profited from TM (Transcendental Meditation...)

He may-or may not- have had sex with some of his followers - I think that it was only claimed by Mia Farrow that he "had propositioned her"... Mia Farrow's sister, Prudence, stayed at his ashram in India, and the Beatles' song "Dear Prudence" was inspired by her. Reportedly, the song, "Sexy Sadie" satirirized Maharishi's dubious character.

Many other Indian "holy men" were caught in worse sex scandals including Siddha Yoga founder, Swami Muktananda, who claimed to be a lifelong celibate and had many celebrity followers, but who - in his old age - allegedly had sex with many woman disciples - as young as 13 years old...

Among other "chic" rascal "gurus" were Bhagavan Shree Rajneesh (free love advocate...), Swami Satchidananda (chain-smoker followed by Carole King and Peter Max...), and Guru Maharaj Ji (pudgy 13 year old "Perfect Master" of the Divine Light Mission, whose mother renounced him after he married a 24 year old...)

None of these rascals should be confused with Bhaktivedanta Swami, who was a genuine saintly person who preached very strongly against these bogus cheating opportunists who pandered to celebrity disciples with watered-down or concocted philosophies. Bhaktivedanta Swami (Srila Prabhupada) was a real guru, and George Harrison was a real disciple (who sacrificed plenty to serve God...)

The same counter-cult author who dug up dirt on the rascal gurus in the above article could find no dirt to report on Bhaktiivedanta Swami:

Yeah, he's another good example of a bad "guru" who relies on magic tricks to attract followers ... You can find some of the dirt on him here:

http://www.dci.dk/en/mtrl/saibabaeng.html

You can also find plenty of dirt on some deviant Hare Krishna "leaders" who usurped authority after the passing away of Bhaktivedanta Swami (who some believed was poisoned...) Before he passed away, George Harrison reportedly donated a large sum of money to particular Krishna leaders he trusted but not to the organization as a whole... |

Yeah all that "spiritual" beauty and trips to see some guy wrapped in a sheet molesting his female followers..

Yes my brothers and sisters follow me to enlightenment....leave your wallet at the door. Just as bad a organized religions in the states.

Most religions were based on love and helping the poor not helping rich rock stars detox.

				| Let's not forget the Buddhist monks/gangsters of Korea, the monks who wear wigs to visit prostitutes in Thailand, and the Catholic priests. Power corrupts, but also attracts the corrupted. Religion isn't immune to the evil of man. |

Here's a nice website about "Religion in the Music and Lives of the Beatles"

http://www.cs.mun.ca/~krystina/rels2812/individuals.html

Although it covers all the Beatles, the central focus seems to be on George - who was the most spiritual-minded of the group. |

				| I must say that I felt very bad when George Harrison suffered. I do like his song "My Sweet Lord" which included the Rama and Krishna mantra at the end. I believe that's for dissolving karma. It's kind of an appropriate way to remember George, a person who wanted to embrace the Lord he loved with a good consciousness and felt he couldn't express enough love. He was a lovely soul. |

Personally, I think All things Must Pass is an excellent album. I think it was the first he put out after the Beetles broke up.

I feel he was truly the most talented of the Fab Four.....and an amazing person.
