The link below gives clear instructions on how to get a copy of your FBI background check. They even provide a PDF file for you to use for your fingerprints. The cost is less than 20 buck US.

http://www.fbibackgroundchecks.com/get-your-own-FBI-record.html

Mods, you should think about removing some of the out of date information that are now stickies and make this link a sticky. Just a thought.

Cheers for the info, but is it legitimate? I mean www. fbibackgroundchecks.com ? Shouldn't it end in ".gov" or something?

Edit: found the link to the real deal http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htm

Edit part deux: The info looks the same, but you can never be too safe - I'd go with the .gov

Quote:
Allow approximately 16-18 weeks for processing, upon receipt to the FBI.

That's not gonna cut it! Let's pray that they accept local police reports...

The links to the fingerprint form, cover letter and creditcard payment slip all go to fbi.gov, and the address for post is the same on both, so I think it is the same information just present on two different sites.

The site you linked to did have a bit of information that the site I linked to didn't have. I quote

"Allow approximately 16-18 weeks for processing, upon receipt to the FBI. "

The FBI only stamps your fingerprint card no record found. The FBI DOES NOT apostille or notarize your record check. This is not acceptable to Korean immigration.
