|
|
My birthday isn't till Jan, but a friend asked me today what I planned on doing for it this year. Last time, we went to Outback and then did the token bar/soju bang hop till the wee hours. It was fun, but nothing really memorable.
This time around I thought that I would ask the board for stories and ideas of what are some great birthday experiences that can be had in Korea, for mine and other teachers' benefit.
If we open up all possibilities for location (I'm in Daegu, but will travel) and 'x-rated' factor (I'm single again and plan to be that way for awhile), what different kinds of great birthday itineraries can one hope to have in Korea, outside of the norm (ie., what I did last year).
Really funky lounges/restaurants that are 1 of a kind?; secluded getaways for a small group?; or establishments that involve drunken, risque behavior?
All ideas, tame or outlandish, are most welcome. |

if you want to go get drunk in nature (surprisingly fun for us), get as many friends together as you can and go camping.
There' s a place that is sort of in the middle of nowhere called "Baenaegol". It's inbetween Daegu and Yangsan (A burb of Busan). I'd guess it would be a bit of a hassle finding out what kinda bus you can take to get there. But it is a very beautiful, calming area. VERY clean air, good for upmountain bushwacking and there is a giant 10ft *beep* there you can sit on fulfill all your wildest dreams
It's a deep and kind of narrow valley that apparently had a lot of "female energy": so the build a few big cocks to offset it. Beautfil place with a TONNE of Mibaks; even the old kind you'd stock with firewood. And a few (VERY few) convinience stores.
If you ever wanna get away from busan or the neighbourhood, Baenaegol is worth a check, i swear. |

You mentioned minbak, which triggered a memory of another cool place that I forgot about.
The ski resort area of Muju, about an hour or two west of Daegu. The town reminds me of small Korean version of Banff, Alberta, Canada. My girlfriend and I went for a hike up some side road that took us further up a mountain that overlooks the town and valley. We come across a cluster of minbaks with a great view and had traditional ondol heating (a wide hot stone under the floor, heated by a wood fire.) Hit a norae or sojubang in the town for some apres ski fun. Hmmm...maybe. |

Actually the ski resort idea sounds pretty cool, I will have to keep that in mind for my birthday next month. |
