This seems like it's hitting the news, but I heard it from a military friend.

Yesterday evening, an unidentified civilian ran over two ROK marines with an SUV somewhere around Ganghwado. It sounds like one guard died in hospital and the other one is in rough shape. The driver stole:
-1 K-2 (M-16 equivalent) rifle
-75 5.56MM rounds
-6, K-201 40 MM rounds
-1 Hand grenade

The SUV that hit the marines was later found burning in the vicinity of Hwasong. Authorities seem to think this guy could be around Songtan.

My second question - do they think the civilian was a foreigner or a Korean?

I'm assuming they figure it's a Korean or it would mention it, but Ganghwa Island is near the border so maybe they suspect it's a North Korean. Sounds doubtful though.

If it's a Korean, I wonder if it will make the news. Seems similar to the US soldiers who ran over those Korean students, except reverse, and with theft of armed weapons involved.

It might not make the news if they want to cover it up.

No one knows for sure what he will do, since he is obviously crazy. Our supervisors told us to stay away from large crowds until this guy is captured.

Except this guy specifically ran over the marines to get their weapons. The other was an accident.

Oh I realize this. Don't worry, I wasn't trying to say it was deliberate. I was just trying to point out how insanely the Koreans reacted to that, which is why they probably won't report about this happening, because it will reflect poorly upon them (since this is much worse).

Definitely real. My co-worker who leaves in Incheon was late for work today because he was stuck on a bus for 4 hours.

The military had set several roadblocks and were searching every single car and person.

The man apparantly hit one of the soldiers and made like it was an accident, then when he approached the uninjured one he stabbed him.
