If an election were in the next few months, who is your party? |

Marijuana Party all the way this election.
IN the past I have voted Liberal (to stop crazy old Stockwell) and also Green to help get another party going in our country. |

I don't vote by party, I vote by candidate.
In our current system I think voting by party makes absolutely no sense.
I wouldn't vote for Marijuana Party. That's just ridiculous. Marijuana is basically a capitalist party that takes precious votes away from the Green party and NDP party (both of which support decriminalization of marijuana).
It's just that the people who run the Marijuana party are millionaires.....
My vote usually sways between green, ndp, and liberal. The conservative candidates in my riding have always been former reform/canadian alliance and I didn't deem them to be trustworthy. The old progressive conservatives had some good people back in the day though and even still in the East coast (minues Kim Campbell and Brian Mulroney). |

The candidates are kept in line with the party via the whip if in the sitting government or by rewarding loyalty. I think it is unreasonable to assume that individuals are individuals in the party and not more than mouthpieces for their party. |

On condition they get implementation of the Kyoto Protocol back on track ASAP I vote Liberal. I like the Greens, but Elizabeth May is not the most skilled of politicians. Nice person though. |

May is OK. You're right that she isn't a skilled politician but I think she is quite intelligent, and genuine in her platforms.
Maybe if Ignatiuff was the Liberal lead, and he ditched every word of his book The Rights Revolution, then I would vote Liberal. I don't know if that means I get my Alberta resident status canceled. |

Wasn't "Landslide" Annie from Edmonton? I think you will be alright.
I would vote for the Liberals with any leader who actually espouses something other than the "we're not the conservatives" line. |

So, does this statement only apply to Canada or anywhere there are political parties?
"Unreasonable to assume" is a bit of a political doublespeak, no?
Are you trying to make a statement? |

I believe the thread is about Canada, no? Maybe in Angola things are similar or different, I don't know or care.
The candidates represent the platforms of their parties. The nomination process alone likely ensures that renegade candidates are less likely than obedient ones. |

If we're in any way talking credibility & legitimacy, Canada desperately needs to implement Parliamentary democratic reform & replace the single-member "1st person past the post" electoral scam with proportional representation |
