Yep it's a Chinese brand. Wife bought it online for about 55000. We've had it a year maybe and used it almost everyday. The model we got is the 238U.

I tried an sd card in a card reader in the USB port but it didn't work. My stick memory, external HDD work.

Just tonight I tried my wife's MP3 player it read that fine, music/pics/videos. She has a Meizu flash player/pmp. It plays stuff from my Cowon D2 as well. Smile

I haven't had any trouble playing divx/xvid stuff. It won't play quicktime files. Every disc I've used has worked so far. I haven't tried non-Korean discs though. I'm pleased with it except the menus are a bit basic and the remote could be better.

so plugging a flash drive into it and playing avi, mpeg etc.. will be fine?

yes I have a 4gb USB drive that I play all my movies and videos from.. works fine...

Has anyone used these with an external HDD? That would be my dream come true, although the SD drive is nice enough

I meant one of the 3ITMax brands listed in the link in the post. Has anyone used a external HDD with one of these? I think I'll grab one.

Ahh, sorry for the sarcasm then.

The bitmax shouldn't be any differnent. The only proviso for mine was I had to make a FAT32 partition of no more than 40GB and it had to be the first partition on the disc for the DVD player to read it. There might be some graphics etc in the ads for the Bitmax about that.
