| Here's one thing I noticed, that the All News link specifically stated it was a Korean man. The other two did not. I mean, yes, it is in Korea, so one would assume it was a Korean that did this. However, you never know the rumors that are going to float around. |

Police suspect the attack was committed as part of an elaborate scheme, as he seemed to be familiar with the military checkpoint in a remote place, and aware of soldiers' duty times _ they said the man is possibly a former soldier who served his mandatory military duty in the area. Also the car's license plates were fabricated. |

| Drove through a military checkpoint coming off the expressway last night around 7pm near Yongin. They were looking in most peoples cars, but when he saw me he just kinda giggled, saluted and waved me on. |

I think it's silly...I know at least one (possibly more) of the presidential candidates are canceling their public appearances until the guy is caught.
Coming from the US, I know this sounds absurd to me, but...there's ONE unaccounted rifle somewhere in the country.
How is this one guy more dangerous that someone walking around w/a knife in their pocket, or a drunken driver? Or what if a soldier just decided to go AWOL with his own rifle?
I think I read that each candidate now has 300 police officers surrounding their homes (It might've been 60, but I remember thinking how outrageous the number seemed).
It's silly...They're just going to make everyone freak out and somehow it's going to be blamed on me!  |

| I was on a bus last night and went through a check point with police and military. One soldier got on the bus and had a quick look around and then we were past through. I guess they were looking for him. |

Considering the lengths this guy was willing to go through just to get the weapons shows that he is a great deal more dangerous that the hypothetical situations you have presented.
Can you reread your post and actually stand by what you wrote? |

Yes...Take the same guy with a switchblade or poison, and he could kill people that way, as well...Assuming that he's going to do a grand-scale terrorist event because he has a rifle is - as I said - silly.
I agree it's a horrible crime, and I think it's tragic that a 20-year-old died just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but to panic the nation because one guy has a gun is, I think, irresponsible.
And the fact that the candidates are cancelling their public appearances and some news agencies are presenting this as an attack already related to the upcoming election is ridiculous too. I think it's ego-centric to assume that one crazy with a gun is coming after you - even if you are running for public office. |

I can see what you're saying.
I think if I were in the shoes of one of the candidates, I'd be pretty worried as well. The guy obviously really wanted these weapons and was will kill for them. It would seem that he has an agenda. It may only be coincidence that this happened during election time or maybe not. |

Personally, if it was me...I'd have taken the rifle to rob a bank...It's the only conceivable reward that might equal the risk of killing a soldier, but then who knows what the crazies think... |
