Anyone know much or anything about this location? Looks like that'll be where I'm going to be teaching. I don't know much about Busan, but most of what I've heard has been good. Obviously I've heard all the good and bad about CDI so I'm not so much looking for comments on the school (as I'm sure I'll find out all the good and bad about that on my own) but I'm curious about that part of the city. Is it nice? What about the nightlife, are there any decent bars in the area? Any place to catch American sports on the tele, like hockey games or baseball?

What about the surf? I was considering taking up surfing when I get there as I hear the waves are better than Maine, where I'm from. Any good surf spots in the area?

Haeundae is the best part of Busan to live (in my opinion). The surf in Korea isn't good, but that might be a good thing for a beginner. Haeundae has a couple of foreign bars, good restaurants (Thai, Indian, American, Mexican, Quizno's, etc), and lots of foriegners. If you are happy with choosing CDI (do your research), then Haeundae is a great place to live.

Cool, sounds like a good place. I've done the research on CDI, so I'm quite aware of all the pitfalls that come with working for them. Honestly, I just feel as though I'll benefit from their training program as I've never taught before.

i know the FM at the CDI that you are going to. I am pretty sure that things at CDI at least in busan is doing really well. I also work for CDI but in Ulsan which is about an hour or so away from Busan.

Where from Maine are you from. I'm from maine as well, its good to see another mainer out here.

It looks like I might work there. I'm going to fly into Korea on the 16th and start training on the 17th. However, they still haven't told me my pay yet. I really want to do the hourly, but I heard that there isn't a hourly contract in Haeundae! (that's what the guy that interviewed me said) Now, I'm really getting frustrated b/c they're saying they can't really tell me anything about the pay until I finish training. Does anyone have any info about the pay in CDI Haeundae? Thanks.

screw it. if they won't tell u your pay until after u finish training, find some other place. would u really consider flying all the way over here without knowing your pay first?

well, it looks like it's going to be 2.4 mil won for the salary or 28,000 won for hourly, which was a little lower than I expected... should i do it, or are there better places to work in Busan???

There are plenty of jobs out there paying 2.4, and without the attendent hassle of CDI management.

How can I get one of these jobs. I'm slaving away at ECC. I want 2.4 in Haeunde with 4-6 classes and no journals or crazy lesson plans to evaluate. How can I get a release letter too ?

CDI haeundae is actually a very good place to work. Or I should say it has been so far. There's been some weird stuff taking place the last week so I won't guarantee it's going to stay a good place to work. There are guards there now, making sure the former management doesn't step foot back in the building. Fun stuff.
