Yeah why? People have concerns and wish to express them.

Are the mods themselves Korean and cannot stand listening to the current issues?

If not, then leave us alone or ban us all.

Because it's starting to scare off teachers, and cost the site income?

Probably because there are 10,000 topics on it already.

Users squawked for us to make a sticky in order to centralize all the new E-2 guideline discussions.

So we did. http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=104249

Now users are squawking that they'd rather have de-centralized discussion on the issue and have multiple threads going on about it.

Quit your moaning and make up your minds. Mad

It seems you have concerns about the new policies. Did you contact an immigration official in person? If I were in your shoes, that is what I would do first. It would be a good idea to bring a co-worker or Korean friend to translate for you. You could ask all the questions you wanted to about new immigration policies.

Bla bla bla bla...bla bla bla bla...bla bla bla bla and bla bla bla bla...

As for the chess champion, I might take that one up and visit them in person since I am walking distance to the consulate.

the difference, i believe, Poktanju, is that many of the threads were absolute crap -- people asking 'what are the guidelines, i'm too lazy to look them up', but locking all threads related to E-2 guidelines is a bit much. recently TheDude locked a thread on why this is the final straw. that thread offered information that wasn't covered in other threads - certainly it could even have been combined with StephannieK's thread on whether the guidelines were driving you out. But please note that 'what are the guidelines', 'why are the guidelines overstepping the bounds', and 'will you leave because of the guidelines' are three entirely separate topics.

As the OP for the thread about why the new E-2 regulations are the last straw for many people, I object to the decision to lock that thread. Although it has gone off-point a few times, many of the comments people have made are very relevant. It hasn't been a repeat of the others. If there's any credibility in that poll that's showing 45% of us are planning to leave Korea and another 12% (or so) are thinking about it, then obviously something has changed for many people, and it is more worthy of discussion than most other topics presently under discussion. I meant for the thread to be different than the others, and so far, it has been. Please unlock it.

Having to make mod decisions can be challengingly subjective at any given time, but we appreciate when users like this clown make things easier for us by distinguishing who deserves to be talked down to like a petulant child or shown the door altogether.

Please. Keep up your BS. Us mods are cheering for you in the mod forum, as we all know how things will play out in the end.

We're currently involved in some discussion amongst mods to ensure that we are preserving different discussion angles and vantage points on the new E2 issue, while at the same time locking the ones that are correlative with the main sticky. I've just unlocked some threads on the issue that, in hindsight, look to be a little more divergent than the norm.

Bear in mind that the case for locking a thread is not always due its title and intended theme set by the OP, but rather where the tangent of discussion has evolved into.

If anyone has any future concerns or issues about a lock or thread removal, please try to make the effort to PM one of us rather than whining to us by using the public board as a proxy. Some mods are quite busy with offline lives of late, so if you feel that a PM to one of us is being overlooked or missed, then PM me and I'll attend to your matter.

I wouldn't be surprised if diablo is banned for a certain period of time or this thread (Why do mods keep locking topics about E2's) is deleted shortly.

ouch... a bit rough don't you think. I for one would like to thank the mods for unlocking that thread, as I found the discussion interesting and different enough to be continued.
