air con guesthouse: 400 baht per night
eat only thai food (and who'd complain about that?): 150 baht will buy you three meals per day
large bottle of Chang: 40 baht (suppose you drink 4 in an evening) 160 baht. after four large Changs you'll be buzzin' louder than any bee in the hive.
pack of smokes: 45 baht
condoms (pack of three 40 baht)
one short time daily: 500 baht

add it all up: approx. 1300 baht ($40.00 USD) per day

if i spend a month in thailand at this daily rate i will have spent $1200.00

so let me get this straight. all i have to do is save a mere $100.00 per month for one year and i can take a vacation where i will eat well, sleep well, get loaded and laid everyday? NO BRAINER! LIKE I SAID......

THAILAND IS STILL VERY CHEAP.

I'm going on vacation to have a good time and live in reasonable comfort. I don't want to live in the cheapest shit hole living like a 50 year old Eurotrash sexpat. Thailand is becoming a little too pricey for that these days, imo.

I'd prefer the Philippines, where the people are also overtly more friendly and fluent in English.

But hey, Thailand has its own crowd and attractions, and while I don't mind going there, it's simply not as cost competitive as it used to be.

Where is that? There's no way you can get those kind of deals in Pattaya or Phuket. Particularly the short time. You must really go to the sticks somewhere up north.[/quote]

you've obvioulsy never been to pattaya or phuket as 500 baht short time is the standard rate at just about every beer bar in both of these cities.

who said 400 baht was the cheapest? it's not.
who said it was a "beep" hole? you've obviously never seen what kind of room 12,000 baht per month can buy you (if you pay monthly)
who's 50 years old? i'm not even close
who's from europe? good 'ole USA right here
who's a sexpat? nope! but i'd certainly qualify as a whoremonger!! HA.

see ya on walking street.

Condoms are 80 baht, not 40 baht. Unless you're small like a Thai, get the purple packet.
