Don't Wait Too Long for Bonus This Year By Jane Han, Korea Times (December 10, 2007)

"Oftentimes, many employers attempt to slip by the holiday season with gifts, instead of monetary rewards," said Kim Hyung-jin, a business consultant of Clear Management. "However, no employee will think a fruit basket or bottle of wine equals to that of a bonus. It's a no-brainer that they want money." |

Reminds me of National Lampoon's Christmas where Chevy Chase goes off on his boss for giving him a membership in the Jelly of the Month club instead of his bonus:

This reminds me of the 'bonus' we receive at the end of our contracts. Employers usually act like it's straight out of their pocket and it's a parting gift. No, it's legally and contractually necessary. It's part of my salary. It's not a 'bonus'. It's severance. |

You mention Chuseok. What about New Year's Day? What about Seol-nal (Lunar New Year) and other bonus times? |

work...now. Lazy ass! Seriously, Santa is a figment of your imagination.
I tried to warn him about the ghost of Christmas past... |

How many North American companies give Christmas bonuses these days? Not many. |

In our case, it's law to get a contract end bonus. Not an Xmas bonus or a year end bonus.
If I get anything at all as a gift, I will graciously accept it. Otherwise, no one has a duty to give me anything. |

No, but it sure is a pisser to watch the KTs need a forklift to carry their gifts to the car. |

Hmmmm...Last time I checked, we weren't in North America. Plenty of trolls posting from there, though. |
