This question is for those of you who live in an apartment provided by your employer. Any details would be appreciated.

quite the scam... i bet the building owner puts 60% of this fee right into his pocket...

When I lived in an apartment paid for by the school, I paid 50 000 won a month. All the teachers were under the impression that the hagwon owner was just pocketing this money as we saw no maintainance being done. It wasn't until I moved into an apartment on my own that I realized it is quite common to have pay a fee.

It's highway robbery. I live in my own apartment and pay over a 100k a month. There are 15 floors with something like 20 apartments on each floor.

Runs between 83,000 to 100,000 per month. Does not include gas, internet or phone. Wouldn't be bad but the officetel has huge windows. Hot in the summer and cold air seeps in, in the winter.

20k

Says it's for water, lighting in the hallway and bins.

I use lots of water, I like the lights in the hallway and I never separate my rubbish and somebody else does it for me

Bargain really.

mine is supposed to be for maintenance, water, and electricity, so it varies month to month. usually it's about 95,000W. i still have to separate my own garbage and dump it outside at the bins, so i guess maintenance mostly consists of them sweeping the halls and cleaning up flyers...

^ Stuff that. If I am paying 20k a month I expect my garbage to be sorted for me.
I really would expect them to come in and clean my apartment as well but I can live without that.

I pay about 60 and I think it's worth it. For public electricity, cable TV, elevator, garbage sorting and removal and a couple other things. My last apartment was nicer and had no such fee though so it came as a bit of a shock (used to live in a Villa, now gigantor building)

I lucked out on this with only being charged 10,000 won in a small villa house studio apartment. It is also called, "management fee."

This is a huge cost for many renters, particularly those in officetel buildings with lots of neon as all tenants are paying for the huge electric bill. This is what supports all the ubiquitous extravagant lights. I understand that if businesses are in the same building as your apartment, you are paying part of their light bill.

I want to stick with simple small villa houses if I can.

Anywhere between 80,000 and 130,000 per month. Includes electricity, hot water, heat, water and garbage. I pay the gas bill (1500 per month, just for the gas range) separately.

Including electricity and water, mine is about 130,000 a month and during the summer months, up to 170,000 a month. It's a one room officetel as well.
