|
|
I had trouble finding this under a search and it doesn't seem to be on a sticky, either. I'm on an E-2 Visa with an American passport, planning to travel to Thailand, just wondering what I need in order to assure I'll be able to enter Thailand and re-enter Korea. My E-2 is far from expiring, but I'm not sure if I need a re-entry Visa if I'm leaving the country.
It's probably a stupid question, but my co-teacher doesn't seem to know, so! |

You will have no problems entering Thailand (How long are you staying in thailand though).
As for Korea, look at your work visa in your passport. Is there an M or an S under the Entries slot? If there's an M, you're golden with a multiple entry visa. (As an American, you have a 98% chance of having an M. I'm the only american I know that didn't get one) If there's an S, you need to get a re-entry permit. |

Well kat I'm also an American and I didn't get one either. I even asked at the consulate when I got my E-2. A firm "No" was all I got, so I had to pony up 50k when I arrived here. |

Multiple entry stamp.
OP: I'm sure you know, but you'll need a Thai visa to visit Thailand. |

Unless the rules have changed recently, Americans don't need to apply for a Thai visa ahead of time though. You just get a visa waiver stamp on arrival (or at least that is what happened to me in 2006) |

Go figure, I also have a single entry visa. If I go to immigration with my 50k, is it an instant change, or is it a "wait weeks for it to arrive by post" sort of thing? |

It is done "while you wait". You can get a single re-entry permit from the airport.
If you want a multiple re-entry permit you must obtain it from your local immigration office. The cost is 50k won.
In both cases you need your ARC, passport, signed application and the fee. |
