Hi,
I'm new to the world of ESL teaching and am in fact still in Canada searching for the right company to start with in South Korea. I received an email from the POLY school in Mokdong, Seoul and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this school and could help me out a bit with any advice, etc. Thanks!

That's what I have, and IMO that is all you need Don't worry about getting those other papers...when school see B.A. ENGLISH on that diploma, it's like gold.
I was just checking out some uni jobs and they are like: masters or BA in English or Education. So it should be good enough for a hawgwon.
EDIT: oh to answer your question, no experience, but if I was you I wouldnt work in MokDong. It is on the east side of Seoul and Immigration is there, so if you were thinking of doing privates...you know the saying, don't sh_t where you eat. |

I hadn't really thought about doing private lessons at all. Does everyone do them on top of their contracted teaching? How do you go about doing them and would I get in trouble if I did them on top of regular teaching?
Thanks! (Sorry for the newbie questions!)

Private teaching is illegal so do so at your own risk.
If you're not even in Korea yet I wouldn't worry about privates. You'll have your hands full just getting adjusted to your surroundings and learning how to teach.
Good luck!
PS> I've heard good things about POLY schools. Pay is above average but so are the teaching hours and responsibilities |
