Well, I've already sicked the building's security guys on the asshole in the officetel below me a few times for playing their music loudly at 6am, but nothing seems to happen.

Anyone have any idea on who I can complain to in order to get this douchebag to knock it off?

Or am I left with the option of a duel at dawn?

Type a message in Korean, print it, and stick it on his door. Polite or threatening, take your pick....

Polite request: 오전에 큰 소음이 만들지 마시겠습니까? 감사합니다
Could you please refrain from making a noise in the mornings? Thank you.

Polite command: 오전에 큰 소음이 만들지 마십시오. 감사합니다
Please refrain from making a loud noise in the mornings. Thank you.

Impolite command: 오전에 큰 소음이 만들지 마라. 그리고 예법을 배워라!
Don't make a loud noise in the mornings. And learn some manners.

Death threat ( Twisted Evil ): 오전에 큰 소음이 만들기 계속하면 너를 끔찍하게 죽인다
If the noise in the mornings continues, you'll violently be put to death.

Been thinking of doing the same myself to a buncha douchebags several floors above me who make noises so loud one could be forgiven for thinking there was a party for drunken elephants taking place up there. I welcome corrections or suggestions to my crude grasp of Korean. Very Happy

staples, superglue and their lock.

sneak down 3am(hopefully no cameras)

put staples into his lock and a squirt of superglue and leave.

If it's cold enough put some on his door handle as well. It should stay tacky for long enough so that he gets it on his hand and then glues something to his hand preferably another body part like a foot.

If he didn't already complain.
He will will be the first one they accuse and retaliate against.

OP, there is a noise bylaw that can be enforced. Call the police, or get someone to call the police. You might get lucky and they will actually do something.

I'm going to do the following.

Get my boss to complain to the building owners.

Failing that: Leave a polite note on their door.

Failing that: Baseball bats at dawn.

No. But I've had neighbors like that in the past. In Canada. Hardwood floors are great but when the guy above you has them, well, they're not so great.

It's been over 3 months now of a broken sleep cycle for me. The pr... ks upstairs wake me anywhere between 1 - 5am - about 4 times a week. Jumping on the floor, shouting, laughing etc.

So, if you live in an office tel - in a large K city - and you are a Westerner and have a K girlfriend - or if you are two dark skin 'Foreign Guys' - you'll be pleased to know that I've reported your noise to the building super twice - and once to my school.

You'll also be pleased that being Korea - all they did was smile and say 'sorry". So I guess after I'm re-signed at my school - we're going to have a little talk about this.

isnt it amazing how a small thing like noise can really make you crazy, when it interrupts your sleep?
ugh, i've had similar neighbour issues. I live on the 2nd floor of a villa, and thanks to the magnifying and echoing acoustics of the building, I get to hear everyone come home at all hours of the morning. Is it that hard NOT to stomp up the stairs as loudly as possible late at night?
most of the noise came from gyopo teachers in our building, who were regularly coming home at 2 or 3am, and when you work split shifts you really value the little sleep you get. I complained to my school housing manager, who rang the landlord, and also rang their school and eventually the noise stopped. we've been told that if it happens again, we can ring the police. I also left a charming note on the door.

Well, the lady at the office who handles the housing told me she got in contact with the guy below me and he promised to never do it again.

So if you see me on the news tomorrow being dragged off to jail for murder, you'll know he lied.
