"Favourite Southern Song" is a little ambiguous; does "La Cucaracha" count?

In all seriousness, I'd have to go with "Tuesday's Gone".

Gah, I love "Tuesday's Gone." But the Allman Brothers are such a quintessential Southern group. My former English professor was friends with them and took a bus of our class up to see them perform in NYC--they got to stay after the show and chill with the band. Tickets were $80...I didn't go. My dad was disappointed in me.

I don't know the artist, maybe Tim Macgraw. The lyrics are like:

I pulled into a shopping center,
saw a little boy wrapped around the legs of his mother.
Like ice cream melting they embraced,
years of bad decisions running down her face.
I wanted to tell them it would okay,
but I just got in my suburban and I, drove away.
I don't know why they say grown men can't cry ...

I quite like the voice of the country singer in the urban context.

I don't listen to southern music much, but I like it. The last song I liked was Sittin At A Bar by Rehab. I don't know if they count but they're from Georgia.

Before I get flamed I should add Allison Krauss:

Allison Krauss - When You Say Nothing At All

Allison Krauss - I Will

Very Happy
