Hey Folks!
Wondering whose been to Kyoto out there?
Seems like a great city in Japan to visit and take photo's
i have a few questions though....
1) i'm looking to stay in a hostel and have looked at quite a few on the internet...anyone have any suggestions about one they've stayed in previously?
2) one can't fly from incheon to kyoto, i believe you have to go to Osaka first...how do you get from Osaka to Kyoto? How long does it take, and how much does it cost?
3) any personal opinions, thoughts, recommentdations about kyoto would be great!
thanks guys, and have a great vacation! |

Gojo Guest House is nice. If you want more peace and quite, book a private room. It's not rowdy by any means, but the walls aer a little thin. It's family run and the staff is unbelievably helpful. It's in a good location within walkin distance to Kiyomizu-dera (Up for the new seven wonders contest) and several other things. I really recommend this place.
Kyoto and Osaka are really close. I would suggest going by train. I"m not sure how much that costs, but it should take less than an hour.
We followed these walking tours. http://www.pref.kyoto.jp/visitkyoto/en/area/kyoto/ We did tours 1.2, 4, 5, 6 (mainly just hit the imperial park and Nijo castle is really cool), 10. Must sees are the Golden Temple, Nijo Castle, Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Arashiyama (really peaceful and the moneky park is loads of fun). Also, there's te main food market, which is fun, especially if it's arainy day as the market is covered. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can take a train directly from osaka airport to Kyoto.
I stayed at the Waraku-An Guesthouse.
It was pretty nice. 2,500 for a hostel room. |

You can get there by train from Osaka. A train from Umeda station cost me about 390 yen to get there. |
