Does anyone have any experience with, or information about, invigilators in Korea?

I am taking some distance courses from a couple of Canadian universities this Winter, and I need to write the exams in Korea. Both universities have told me that I will need to find a site myself.

Has anyone done this? Does anyone know anything about securing an exam site and an invigilator?

"Invigilator"? WTF is that? Proctor? Someone to watch you take a test? You just need a reputable uni.

You need a reputable uni. Ask the uni/organization you're studying with to recommend someone in Korea, they probably know a University that can do this. If that doesn't work contact the Canadian embassy.. I think they'll put you in contact with someone at Seoul National Uni. They sometimes invigilate (aka 'proctor') exams. But you have to pay like $150 for the service. If you have contacts at other universities hit them up.

You may be able to get the consular office at the embassy to arrange something but it won't be free.

Thanks, all, for the suggestions.

I'll try and contact the Kaplan test centers and the embassy and see what they say.

I looked at the website, but my Korean is not nearly good enough to understand it.

How did you set up the tests? And if you don't mind me asking, what did it cost?

most uni's (well at least the canadian ones i've dealt with) will allow a uni instructor here to invigilate.

i've done a handful.

unless your uni is a stickler, find a uni friend who works here and have him/her set you up in a spare classroom. he/she can sit back and read a book in the same room monitoring you for a few hours or however long it takes.

good luck.

i am a certified exam invilgilater, and have had students taking courses through Athabasca University write their exams in my presence. If you want to come up to Sokcho and do it, I charge way less than a uni would.
pm me if you want to set something up.

The word is invigilator. Are you sure you are one? I wouldn't go to a doctorb.
