Here's the situation:

I'm finishing up at my hagwon on the 29th December. I will be starting at a new hagwon next year. In between I will be leaving the country to go back home. My new hagwon will apply for my new visa this week (10 days before I'm to finish at my current one).

I was told I'll be getting a 'VISA certificataion number'. With that I can get a visa put into my passport at any Korean embassy. Because I'll be doing some traveling before I come back to Korea, I'll need my passport while I'm away.

Am I able to get the visa inserted into my passport, with the VISA certificataion number, while I'm still here in Korea? If so, where can I get that done?

Thank you in advance.

No, you have to leave the country to get a new visa.

The wording is unclear on this I think.

He will have to leave the country yes, but maybe he can get his new E2 in japan. Not necesarilly go all the way home.

-Because he held an E2 previously.

According to the article published in the Korea Herald today, teachers who had previously held an E2 visa will be exempt from the new visa regulations and might be able to get a new E2 by going to a neighboring country like Japan.

I think that by the time I return to Korea, about 8-9 years from now, all these regulations would either be repealed or will become more standardized and the process will become easier...

I am just adding my 2 cents as a spectator.
