Moving there shortly and will be looking to buy some new lens' for my dSLR. The kind of shop I am looking for would have to be quite a specialist shop (i.e not just an electronics store selling point and shoots)

Thanks.

Buy your camera stuff before you get here.

Prices are generally higher over here.

Compare here.

Prices will be higher than online, but cheaper than N.American shops. There are 2 good areas for cameras in Daegu.
One is Gyo Dong, the area behind Migliore department store.
The other is the underground shopping arcade running below Migliore department store and Kyobo bookstore. There are 3 shops scattered under there that sell a decent variety of lenses.

While we are on it, any good shops with traditional black and white products? i.e. non- c41 black and white film, developers, fixers, paper etc... What about 120 film? Don't know what I am gonna do in Korea without...

Almost all the pros and high level amateurs in Daegu use Jung-Un Camera Supply Store: (53-422-1280)
They have a good selection of cameras, flashes, film (any film: hand rolled B & W, tungsten, 1600 ASA, C41 process B & W, medium format film, large format film, etc.)
They also carry a full range of filters (including Cokin) and all kinds of other goodies (hot shoes, camera bags, tripods, cleaning equipment, slide projectors/mounts/file sheets, light trays).
If you want it, they've either got it or they can order it. .
Located at about the middle of the underground shopping center that runs below Migliore and Kyobo bookstore..

West of Jung-Un there are two camera shops, the second one (small and on the corner) is Bo-Sung Camera. It's also a good shop to use, though the selection is not as big as Jung-un, the prices are often lower.

Profile is an image agency that contains the best scanner in Daegu, Yi Hyung-joon. He uses a drum scanner like a painter uses a paintbrush. He's an artist. His services are not cheap, however. A 300 dpi 9 MB TIFF scan will run around 3,000 won. Prices rise fast as you go up in file size, and he uses Kodak Gold CDs which he charges about 8,000 won per CD for. They are located on Boengsan Culture Street, on the right with your back to downtown, about halfway down the street.
