My buddy is dropping by for two days this week and I have no idea where to take him as I haven't been here that long either. Cheaper/free adventures are preferred because I am broke. Only things we have planned so far are the DMZ morning tour and Seoul tower. |

Two-day inexspensive (see OP) uniquely Korean activities:
Foods:
dulsot bibimbap - 5000 won
kimbap - 1000 won
붕아빵 - pastry filled with sweet bean - (looks like a fish) - sold by street vendors
Places to see:
insadong - free
cheongdeokgung (best palace IMO) - 3000 won?
Namsan tower (no dinner - overpriced average food)
Dongdaemun shopping
Technomart (even with no cash it is still a cool place to see all the gadgetry) |

A fact often lost on Seoulites but with just two days, "seeing Seoul" seems like the thing to do if that's where the op lives and the guest will start and finish at.
Make sure there's a Buddhist temple involved, as it is impressive the first time. And go for multi-sidedish meals, as the refills are free and the guest will think it's an expensive feast, not realizing you don't get dinged for everything extra as one does in a Korean restaurant overseas. Skip the samgypsal though, seriously, it's just bloody bacon. Go for Chuncheon dukalbi or haemultang. |
