To be perfectly honest the blood pressure level which you have reported is not actually very high ...

"High blood pressure in adults is defined as a consistently elevated blood pressure of 140 mm Hg systolic and 90 mm Hg diastolic or higher."

The level which you have reported there would be a high risk warning ... but is not extreme ... For a firm diaganosis it would need to stay high over time ... and over times of the day ...

I do have high blood pressure ... and am getting my readings down to what you currently are ... For me personally your readings would be good readings ...

I would not panic yet ... But I would take the lifestyle advice ... and see this as a warning and stop it from becoming a problem for you in the future ... It is not too late ...

I seemed to have developed a high blood pressure here also...or maybe I've always had it and just realizing it now. I haven't been to the doctor yet, I'm not assuming it's dangerous.

I also lost 11 kgs (!!!!!) during my time here. I excerise almost everyday and eat only 1 meal a day since I throw away 90% of my lunch at school. Korea's a tough stressful place to live, I reckon...can't wait to get somewhere more chill..

Of course. Why do you ask? I also look to be around 30 in physical appearance, not 35, 40, 45, 55 or anything else. Not even old like my 36 year old brother who is many more biological years aged more than me. Serious. I look younger and healthier than most 35 year olds I knew at home as well as the one I work with in Korea.

Often, when a Korean of the same gender wants to associate with you, they will tell you they are the age they think you are since people need to be the same age to be friends. I know some are lying when they say 30 or 31 when I can tell they are 35 or 40! They are guessing your age and trying to be age compatible.

When I went to college from 29 to 33 years old, I was not treated like a mature adult, but just as a kid fresh off the block. It was funny having 10 more years of experience and knowing that much more than what people anticipated, but the job interviewers always underestimated me.

So that's my case on reaffirming my young age of 35, uh, I mean 30. Smile

It does help tremendously to avoid all drinking as my BP was normal yesterday after 4 dry days with 2.5 being a fast due to stomach flu.

Back when use to race I was 39-41 resting heart rate... now I think I am in 48-53 range.... Man I am sooo out of Race shape now it is sad .... I cracked another frame again and have just been doing a bit of MTB here and there...

My heart is sooo strong it is like a Blood filled Sack of Monkey Hide... I advise you to become a workout freak and join a club with fun group workouts or maybe take up hiking also realize that healthy habits are a lifestyle US kid comes home every day does play station watches tv = fat kid Hoogywon guy walks to chicken shop everyday eats then goes to sports bar and watches Soccer matches = fat English teacher... not to say you are into soccer or anything... Anyhow it is ok to be fat here you do not have a moral debt to be handsome and thin so Korean Girls say "Cutah" to you... plenty of great men were fat ahhh Winston Churchill... DL Moody and ummmm my favorite comedian John P.

anyhow I think I should Mtb over and get a double whoper super size now or some nice fatty SanGulpSal

Well, don't drink every night. I only drink on the weekends now and at most one week night. Also, don't eat fried foods. Now if you want something that will lower your blood pressure a lot quickly then go on a 3 day water fast. This is healthy and has made me literally feel like a new person every time I have done it.

It can drastically lower high blood pressure and make you feel normal again although it will be hard at first but I promise it will be worth it. Now, first only drink fruit and vegetable juice and eat apples, grapes, and other fruits and vegetables sparingly for one full or preferably two days. This will help prepare your system. Then after that period is up, just drink water for the next three days. Your body will quickly dispose of all the toxins that you have built up here and you will feel SO much better after the fast is over and you are eating healthy again. Now, it's important that you drink alot of water while on your fast...carry a water bottle with you. The first two days might hurt a little, but you will be ok. It's very important to drink a lot of water to further helo removed toxins from your system. Then when the fast is up, only eat a small amount of fruits or vegetables for the first two days and slowly get yourdelf on a healthy eating plan.

I splurged on alcohol and fried chicken for the first month and a half here and felt like utter shit one day at work and about fainted while sitting at my computer. I'm sure that my blood pressure was very high, because whenver I ate a big meal or drank alcohol, it would get to the point where my whole face and ears felt burning hot and would turn beat red for the next couple of hours. Now I feel a lot better. If you don't trust what I am saying then you can such the benefits of a water or fruit juice fast on google and see what pops up. I can already feel myself getting flamed for this post. Oh yeah, and to the posters who told you not to change your diet. Trust me, don't listen to them. If you have high blood pressure, then it's for a reason and it's very dangerous. Nothing to play around with.
