Was watching some of the Youtube fights of Marciano, and man he could slug. He could do it non stop for a whole 15 rounds. There was computer simulation of a fight between him and Ali, and Marciano, and Marciano knocked him out. I think in real life it is probably what would have happened anyway. |

It makes one feel very respectful of Marciano..
Smoking Joe was also a press-on type and gave Ali a few close calls, so maybe he'd have had some difficulties dealing with Marciano.
After I had seen the rise of Foreman I strongly felt that noone would be able to stop such a monster. He seemed invincible
The fact that Ali did win against all odds makes me never want to doubt Ali again.
Once bitten twice shy, so now I put my money on Ali... |

Ali was rusty, still put on a great performance, and lost a close decision to Frazier in their first fight (which I saw live at a theater.)
He beat Frazier handily in their next two fights.
Marciano was definitely a great fighter, and he'd have a good chance against Ali if they both fought at their prime. However, I think that if they fought three times Ali would figure out a way to win at least two of them.
Here's a good comparitive analysis: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=26&more=1
Here's a good video clip of Marciano:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wcwalp0TRfc

Ken Norton also beat Ali, and should have gotten the decision in their final match.
Larry Holmes in his prime would have given Ali a good fight, but I think that Sugar Ray Robinson was a better fighter overall--check out the archives. |

When it comes to heavyweights, there's a simple pattern that I like to observe: Never bet on the white guy. So far it seems to have been mostly accurate. |

Marciano would certainly give Ali a tough fight. His non stop aggression, and continuous punching to the body, arms and head would be a more difficult test for ali that Frazier. Ali would jab and move, jab and move and tie Marciano up at time, but The Rock would keep coming and wear Ali down. I see this a close fing with Marciano pissoble getting stopped on cuts. |
