A girl said this to me, and quite honestly I couldn't get the exact nuance or meaning behind the sentence. It was in the context of a love letter. It read:
"누가 뭐라던지 진심은 진심이 통하게 되어있어. Who knows us? Only we know eachother".
Could those with good Korean skills offer suggestions as to what exactly that sentence means and implies?

Whatever people will say, the truth has been truthfully revealed.
I think she means, others will talk crap, but we know the truth. Something along those lines.

In this case, I think by 통하다 she means "to be understood" or "make sense", so it's like, "No matter what people say, sincerity is understood through sincerity." So I guess you could translate it as "No matter what people say, we understand each other."
Anyway total chick speak. Probably couldn't understand it if she said it in English either. |
