Almost every year in the run up to Christmas, there's some comedy song that everyone seems to be into and helps relieve holiday stress. In my mind, it started with Bob and Doug's Great White North. We've had "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", "Jingle Cats", "Hanukkah Song", South Park's "Merry F'in Christmas", SNL's "Lazy Sunday" and then "Dck in a Box" (also that "I wish it were Christmas" where the Horatio Sanz plays some weird stringed instrument).

I guess with the writer strike, people are robbed of a bit of needed pre-christmas group therapy.

The big funny Christmas hit this year is a remake of "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" featured in the new Alvin and the Chipmunks film just released this week...

It's hard to find the new one on YouTube, but here's the original from about 50 years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dnrosVyamY

Here's a "Catholic" review of the film:

I like this one, the 12 pains of Christmas.
Very well done. Lots more on our streaming video player (and you also can embed video unlike HERE!) on EFL Classroom 2.0

The Kinks (along with "ddeubel") are underated...

I don't think I ever heard this one before (and they've put a nice corny video with it...) "Run, Rudolph, Run" - Chuck Berry:

Thanks rteacher, but, if only I had one "iota" (and who can tell me how much that is, all I know is that it is rather small?) of the Kink's creativity and "vivre"!

Still, I'll be like Arjuna, play my role.....that's all and that's enough.

Merry Christmas,
