I'm sick of seeing Will Smith get all emotional and cry in movies.

Caught it tonight. Never read the book but loved Omega Man as a child. Scared the crap out of me.
This version.
1) I felt like they left about half of the movie out. The movie was about 90 minutes long.
2) Will Smith tooling around in the muscle car but then for the rest of the movie he uses the jeep. Other than maybe an homage to Omega Man, not sure what that was about.
3) Who set the trap? The chick wasn't out to get him. The vampire zombies displayed no ability to use tools. IMDB says it was zombies. But then maybe the should have shown us the zombies were capable of some tool use.
4) In Omega man Heston is white and the chick is black. In this version, the Smith is black and the chick is white. They don't pork in this movie.
5) The movie had a budget of $150 million. Where did they spend that money? The CGI was pretty standard. We had limited sets. A handful of actors.
6) In the Omega Man version, the zombies had a culture and a religion. It would have been nice to see something like that.
I dunno. The movie needed more. I liked how they delayed introducing the zombies. Played up the suspense. |

That was one of the weaknesses of the movie. When the Blade II vampires were on screen, they were animalistic screaming things. Off screen they were able to organize an assault and train vampire dogs. |

| It seemed there was a clear "zombie leader" who was a bit smarter than the others. Kinda like in Day of the Dead. |

Just watched it. Good enough, but flaws.
As per Mindmetoo, I thought it could have been a lot longer with more background on the zombies. Give them some depth.
Think of what you could get up to if you were The Only Living Boy in New York!!! They could have added a lot more fun scenes about what you could do with free reign of a deserted, kind of, city.
It could have been a great movie. Instead, it was just good. |

The was all about product placement. The Mustang at the beginning was just an ad for Ford. |

Will would of taken about 20 million maybe the crew another 20million so they used about 110 to make it..
but yeah seems very steep..marketing and advertising would have been large.. the 1000 extras at the bridge scene just that scene alone would have costed millions... I guess CGI took the bulk of it.. |

Sure but Omega Man also features Heston tooling around in a Stang in the opening scenes. |

I saw the Omega Man when I was a young kid. I am Legend is a far better movie than the Omega Man.
We downloaded a good copy from torrents over the weekend. |

i started laughing when will smiths character was horrified at someone not knowing who bob marley was - bet the koreans in the audience didn't catch onto that one.
i noticed no one in the theater really laughed at the funny parts. they just couldn't relate.
i'm a fan of the genre so i liked it, and having also seen omega man i'd have to say it's more along the lines of 28 days later. in fact, very similar..the existence of a "safe zone"...looking for a cure.
it also reminded me of "a boy and his dog" oddly enough. |
i think 28 days later is more betterer |

Yeah I grabbed a torrent of it too. It's not exactly Silent Running or 2001, a sci fi movie that still stands up against modern FX. I could barely figure out what the black woman was saying. Her slang was too heavy. |
