^ Just caught me on a good day plus I already tried to send somebody to a bad area of Bangkok yesterday as well so I might as well do something good with the years I was there as well.

http://www.koh-chang.com/

Klong Prao Beach
(Had Khlong Prao)

This is the beach slightly more expensive since I last went there but still some rooms $30

Also Kae Bae was just coming up 3 years or so ago. It appears to have taken off a bit more now.

Kai Bae Beach
(Had Kai Bae)

i think it was the Sea View Spa that I went to for a day. Not 100% on that though.

Relaxing beaches, not too touristy.....try Ao Nang near Krabi....great place and as previously stated, easy access to Koh Lanta and the Phi Phi's. Snorkeling and diving....Koh Phangnan or Koh Tao. Or, if you really want to get away and camp a little, take a boat and go to the Similan Islands. You can get easy transport out of Phuket. A previous suggestion of Pai is also highly recommended. Far far from beaches but quiet, great hiking, beautiful countryside....rent a motorbike and tour the area. Or head over near Mae Hong Son, or go north towards the Mynamar border. Absolutely stunning area. Food.....never a problem anywhere you go in Thailand....it's the best in the world. Have fun Smile

Off the beaten track, but within eye [not ear] shot of the airport. The bungalows operate in the high season [Feb too].
Check it out, well worth the visit with a 12 mile beach [almost] all to yourself.

I want to visit 3-4 different places in Thailand and stay at each place for at least several days. I'd rather find several lovely spots and relax there than flit about for 3 weeks.

I prefer non-touristy places, but also I don't want to be too isolated since I will be on my own. Ideally I want places on or quite near a beach (simple huts preferred), good diving/snorkling/swimming locations, off the beaten path but not too far, decent restaurants, and perhaps some low-key nightlife.

Here's what you want to do:

Ko Samui: 4 days
Ko Pha Ngan: 7 days
Ko Tao: 7 days
Ko Samui 3 days

Once you fly into Ko Samui from Bangkok, you can spend a few days on Samui and then book the ferry over to Ko Pha Ngan where you will then head up to the north eastern part of the island to a place called Ton Nai Pan. Then after several days there, you can book a ferry over to Ko Tao. Spend a few days on Ko Tao and then book the ferry back to So Samui where you'll enjoy a final few days on Samui before flying back to Bangkok.

this thread has been eye opening. i've always wondered what female tourists would do with their time after satiating the temples, markets, and beaches in thailand. very interesting and the reason why i never see any farang females when in thailand. the're all spending hours on the beach sipping fruity concoctions while i'm slugging chang on some barstool ogling my next barfine. amazing how thailand can be so accomodating to all who visit. really is the land of smiles. isn't it?

Yes, there are still some of us female travellers who prefer the outdoor life and do so for the adventure of seeing new countryside and meeting interesting people...
