CONCORD, N.H. - It wasn't long ago that Rep. Ron Paul was an anti-war asterisk in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. Then his campaign raised a record $6 million in a single day.

Now the libertarian-leaning Texas congressman is looking like a possible spoiler, with an eclectic, tech-savvy following and an astounding $18 million in donations raised in less than three months.

"It's sort of gotten out of control. I don't know what to do about it," he told one audience recently in mock frustration.

At the current rate, it is some of his better known rivals who might have cause for concern. Polls give no indication that Paul can win any primaries or caucuses. But his appeal to independents, in particular, could make a difference in contests in New Hampshire, which votes on Jan. 8, or in Michigan, where a primary is scheduled one week later.

The Republicans shouldn't vote for him. That way, he'll lose the nomination, run as an independent candidate, and steal votes from people who would have otherwise voted Democrat.

Then, they can have Mike Huckabee in office. They really just want someone who's gonna beat the Bible to death, anyway.

That is right, Igotthisguitar: a spoiler. That is the best he can become, provided he resigns from the Republicans and runs Independent.

I heard a radio ad in Nevada last night. Ron Paul trying to whip up Nevadans over federal nuclear waste programs. Listening to him talk on that ad convinced me he is just another populist.

But in any case, the best part was when others at the Christmas party looked at me incredulously, asking, quote, why I would want to listen to anything that lunatic had to say. These were mostly dispassionate, middle-of-the-road people politically-speaking, by the way.

Could not have been more pleased.

The fact that some hard core Democrats don't like any Republican, let alone Ron Paul is irrelevant. (After all, if they like FDR, who was a fascist, they could never support a candidate who believes in liberty, which is the opposite of what FDR stood for.)

Meanwhile, whether as a Republican or an Independent, some names are starting to surface as possible Ron Paul runningmates:

steals gold from citizens
devalues currency takes major step toward total destruction of the dollar
turns recession into Great Depression
creates huge programs that continue to grow and bankrupt America
turns boatloads of Jewish refugees away from America (anti semite)
prolongs the depression with isolationist trade policies
tries to control wages and prices also prolonging depression

FDR roused the masses with his voice. Too bad they ignored his words and didn't understand the evil in his deeds.
