So my coteacher just informed me that I need to get a new medical record check and a new criminal record check as well as get my apostille document as soon as possible as per the new regulations....
...but I am currently in my second contract. My contract started in August and I am not renewing.
Even though I am not a new teacher or renewing, my coteacher insists that all current teachers must do it as well.
Has anyone else heard about this?

ack...no, but my co-teacher always tells me last minute. but if we already have a contract and visa, why would we have to? those requirements are for teachers applying for E-2 visas... |

I have no concrete evidence but something fishy started here yesterday. My co-teacher asked again for my work history and when does my current visa expire (Sept 2008).
This out of the blue line of questioning leads me to believe they are going to start asking for more stuff.
If they do I am telling them to stuff it. If they fire me, I am moving to Taipei earlier than expected. Since I have a valid visa until 2008 I ain't jumping through anymore hoops.
We'll see what the next few days brings. |

damnit!! i'm finishing my contract soon and i don't want any more grief...i just want to collect my severence and airfare on my way out.
i also refuse to jump through any hoops involving sending away for criminal checks or having a complete med check done by a doctor here. work history i'll do...resume would be enough, along with past reference letters, i hope. |

...so far I am the only one who has been asked to do this, it seems like...
I texted a few of the other ps teachers in my neighbourhood and I have yet to hear anything from them.
I am so frustrated with this whole situation. It makes no sense. By the time I get the criminal record check finished and notarised, it'll be the end of my contract.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was just my co-snatch 's way of making my life heck. |

Just say not possible and end it. If they want it done, they can apply for it themselves. By the time they figure out that it is NOT possible, you will be finished and on your way.
Oh, and you are NOT required to have it done until you renew or change jobs. |

This is just a guess, but might it be some kind of fishing expedition designed to see if you're going to renew or not? |

I would say that something is going on ... But fortunately it will not affect me any more ... I was asked some "when does my visa expire" and a few other similar and asked before questions ... on Thursday ... The funny thing to me at the time was that Thursday was actually my last day at my school (after the proper notice period) ... Until she asked me the "when did my visa expire question" I thought she was just sorting out things that she needed to do as part of my leaving ... But some of the things that she needed to fill out again ... were things she had alraady asked several times this year ... In the end I found the when the visa expired question funny (though I didn't say so) ... because it was going to be cancelled in any case when I left the country this morning (Sunday) ... so the valid to date on Thursday was not going to be correct for very long ... |

Does GEPIK have any idea how to handle anything? Every visa regulation change is annoying and usually ineffective.
Perhaps that is part of their master plan to annoy everyone until they leave. And then only the Korean master race will be left. Yes, I am referring to the Nazi commercials a while back. |
