So I've finally booked my expensive ticket to Vietnam...didn't do it through a travel agent. I need a visa. I heard many people have gone to the Vietnamese Embassy and was ripped off and were treated rudely. Is there any other way I can get the visa without having to go to the Vietnamese Embassy myself??

Thanks

You are in Korea, then? If so, lots of travel agents can handle the visa set-up. Expect to pay about 80,000 and wait at least a week.

Xanadu travel in Itaewon got mine for me, no problem. I wouldn't trust the Vietnamese embassy workers if they are anything like 75% of the Vietnamese I encountered in Vietnam.

Based on my encounters with Koreans, I'm not sure a Korean travel agent plus a Vietnamese embassy worker is much better. Twisted Evil

How much did you pay at Xanadu and how long? I emailed them about a week ago and they haven't even responded.

They are really bad about replying to emails...you should call them: (02)795-7771... I'm getting one from them this week. I gave them my passport last Thursday, and I'll get it back with the visa on Monday...60,000won

Thanks everyone but I did it another way (visa approval code) through an agency in Vietnam.

I still need to go to the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea to get it stamped. My next question is---

Is the embassy far from the Anguk subway station? I got directions from someone at the embassy. She told me to go to Anguk subway station, go out exit 2 and then take the bus No. 2. I don't know which side of the street to catch the bus on so I was thinking of just walking or taking a taxi. Is the embassy really far from the subway station?

I seem to recall so, take a taxi.

See one of my past posts on this thread for directions to the Vietnam Embassy in Seoul. Some details may have changed over the year, but I believe the location remains the same.
