Today was one of those days. I woke up with a headache. My students were hyper. One kid kicked me in the groin and yelled the appropriate Korean curse word then ran away before I could kill him. The photocopier was out of paper...again, the korean teachers kept talking about me in Korean then staring at me and laughing (don't you just love that?), the boss changed my schedule but forgot to tell me, then I left to get away for dinner and 2 of my least favorite kids followed me all the way down the street shouting "teacher, oedi ga? oedi ga?" a hundred times. I stopped off at a store and they had the loud speaker salespitch at full blast and a norae bang contest at the same time. Next it started raining and I almost got run over by some guy that couldn't pause for 2 seconds before making his right turn. While I was eating dinner, the Chinese food ajumma kept staring at me and asking me a hundred questions in Korean. Her kids were jumping all over the place and she just giggled, looking at them proudly. Meanwhile the tv was blaring (I really hate that). Then I went to unwind for a half-hour at the pc room before heading back for my last class, and 3 minutes later, one of my middle school kids sits down right next to me. He's staring at my screen right now. Argh!!!!!!! I hope tomorrow is better.

Where they chicks? Are they hot? Chat them up, and enjoy the conversation, but you keep controll of the situation. Your topics, your pace of conversation, your attitude. Make it known through your own enjoyment that this fun comes about from the Korean teachers being in a situation where they are dealing with you, because usually they don't. Might make them feel uneasy, but if you keep the topics light, always agree with them, smile a lot, laugh a lot, they will be lost, and will have to start treating you better, for then you would have stories about their unsocial behavior when all you are doing is being nice and friendly. If all this sounds like you are making a bit of a show of yourself, that is what it is, but unless the Korean teachers are meeting you half way in any kind of social interaction at work, then this is the only way I have learnt to reach out to them and take controll of the situation. And they will still talk behind your back.

It was just a bad day. I don't usually complain that much, afterall I've been here for 3 years with no plan to go home. I just felt like ranting here on this board to people I think sometimes feel the same frustrations and annoyances from time to time. Another day, these things wouldn't have bothered me. Just one of those days...
As far as the coworkers go, yes they are chicks and not too bad, but they are all super traditional girls looking for marriage, and even though they are English teachers, they can't communicate well. I usually keep my distance on purpose so as to avoid endless perosnal questions and boring social gatherings...also I have a girlfriend.
