ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS,
The political description that
fits you best is...
.
LIBERAL
LIBERTARIAN
LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal
matters, but tend to support significant government control of the
economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net"
to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation
of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations,
defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action
to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.
LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal
and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government;
one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion
and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual
responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes,
promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the
free market, and defend civil liberties.

This quiz is completely accurate and was validated with hundreds of thousands of trials. It has been included in Poli Sci texts and gives some real perspective and understanding to those smart enough or brave enough to use it.
People who fall into the statist corner: socialists of all stripes: fascists, communists, populists ... are the one's who don't like this map, because it reveals their true colors.
A score of 0/0 would be a perfect totalitarian.
FDR's political score:
The political description that
fits best is...
.
STATIST
STATISTS want government to have a great deal of power
over the economy and individual behavior. They frequently
doubt whether economic liberty and individual freedom
are practical options in today's world. Statists tend to distrust
the free market, support high taxes and centralized
planning of the economy, oppose diverse lifestyles,
and question the importance of civil liberties.
FDR's PERSONAL issues Score is 10%.
FDR's ECONOMIC issues Score is 0%. |

Ha.
Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Pligannease, and I scored in the same ballpark. So I imagine we represent the rightwing.
It is true that after the 1980s, America went to the right. Before that, from FDR's time, it had been to the left. That is why several professional historians I know speak of Nixon's (think of his big-govt programs like the Clean Air Act and the EPA) being to the left of Clinton (think of his reaffirmation of classical Liberal economics, or "neoLiberalism").
But Big_Bird: whoever said that the pre-Reagan era represented the ideal baseline...? |

Where, specifically has it been validated?
LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and
economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one
that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.
Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose
government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate
diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

Something about this test seems too simple. I think the quiz is biased towards Libertarian values. |

Everything is biased towards something.
But my issue with this "test" is its simplistic nature. Tests like these are good for starting conversations where people are comfortable talking about politics -- and not to be taken seriously.
Some of us who post here hold complex views on multiple issues. We overlap in this or that category, and this often changes in different contexts. How can someone put an easy label on that? |

There is no deterministic critique of materialism that doesn't apply equally to dualism.
It's also worth keeping in mind that, in the absence of foreknowledge, it makes no difference at all to me whether my actions are predetermined or not. It would be like a blackjack player expressing dismay that the order of the cards in the deck, and hence the outcome of the game, is "fixed". |
