A job as a visiting professor (E1) as compared to a job as a conversational English teacher (E2 - "teacher of foreign languages").

Do you need an MA or an English Major?

Your required degree would depend on what you are teaching.

English Lit would probably require an English major as a minimum if not an MA/PhD.
Chemistry would probably require a PhD in some kind of Chemistry.
Business would/should require at least an MBA.

You need what the university requires AND your DESIGNATED job must not be conversational English teacher if you want an E1.
