In general, Koreans prefer to date a person with a similar age to their own. Is the same true for the Japanese and Chinese? |

When I went on vacation to Japan a couple years ago, we shared a cable car with a couple of very differing ages. The girl was in her early 20s and the guy was at least 60. I was fairly surprised, but not saying this is commonplace there. |

I don't think anyone in the world is as obsessed with age as them Koreans, it's not just dating, its everything in that country. It was a relief to find its not the same in other asian countries. |

Since some of us are 23 and just out of uni this is probably not good advice. |

What I have seen in Korea is that many Korean women would date a person the same age as them, but when it comes to marriage, some of them prefer to marry someone alittle older than themselves (although there are still some who would marry a guy who is a few years younger than them), mostly because they view older men as being more mature and set in their thinking and are considered willing to settle down to raise a family (by older, I mean an older Korean man).
As for dating, you can date anyone of any age because the term "dating" shows no signs of commitment on the couple's part. In Korea in particular, "dating" is just a time-filler until the woman finds a decent enough Korean man to settle down with.
So, if you want to date, go date, just keep in mind that if you think she will remain "monogamous" during the relationship, think again or if she is considered loyal, she might not stay long because when she reaches a certain "age", she might have to break up so her parents can arrange seon to a man the family approve of and a man who can provide a comfortable life for her.
Welcome to Korean culture..... |
