|
|
Any of you guys taking the Foreign Service or any Public Service examination ( GRT, Situational Judgement Test or the Written Communication Proficiency test) at the Canadian Embassy this weekend? I just wonder if you have had any problems finding any study material and would like to do something about it.
cheers

Adventurer and I are both taking the test and have been studying for months (well at least I have - JJ babe, you're going to do fine). As for the meterial, it's all on the Public Service Commision's web-site, complete with an interactive test for the GRT portion. What I do need to know however is where the embassy is located... |

Well positive realist! best of luck too you, thou I think is takes dedication rather than luck to do it. I have not put as much as time as you have but too late now. I think the hardest will be the SJT as it seems so subjective. I wish they had more samples on the site.
See you there!

Hello realist?
Just wondering if you managed to pass the tests and if you got an invitation to do an interview yet? I think I got passing marks but don't know if they will be good enough for an interview.

I wrote the tests in TO. The SJT was easy and logical, the written communication not as easy because it was multiple choice so confusing and the math one I almost failed. I just don't get it.
Good luck to you all. |

I wrote them in Canada and have received all passing marks but wanted to know when a reply was expected. It says on the website March 1st but does anyone know if that's for the first round of interviews or for the job itself starts? |

Did super-fantastic on the test but haven't heard anything yet. As I understand it there is more than 1 round of interviewing plus a language test and a security thing - all held weeks to months apart; not good if unless you'll be in Canada the entire time |

From what the embassy people told us at the info session, from start to finish the whole hiring process could take a year. I presume the March date on the web page is with regards to being contacted for an interview. Although, as another poster mentioned, I think there are several rounds of interviews starting with those who scored highest on the tests. If they don't fill their quotas with those people then they will contact the lower scoring people. This could mean you could get a call for an interview in 6 months. I won't quit my day job just yet! |

Is there any site that can give me an overview of the tests and testing dates here in Korea? |

I appreciate the input guys!
Guess it's just a waiting game now, thou if we do not make it we could be waiting for ages as they only notify those selected.
Here are some figures to ponder on from a knowledgeable source for those who care:
From a recent competition there were 11,000 applications with 8500 taking the tests of which 1500 passed out of which 850 were interviewed from which 225 were shortlisted but only 150 got the position.
Good luck to all! |

there was an article in the Ottawa Citizen today stating that the jobs themselves started in March - if i read it properly (i was in a hurry!)
over 15,000 have passed the tests
and 35% didn't show up (i *think* it was out of 40,000)
improves MY odds a hell of a lot! |
