Ive been thinking about getting a computer soon but I'm not sure which one to go for. I'm not a hardcore gamer and I'm happy playing older games and I'd mainly be used for internet. I'm planning on being in Korea another year. I know you can get much more for your money if you buy a desktop but then if you want to take it home at the end its more difficult. Do you think I'd be better off getting a laptop then? I think the laptop keyboards are a bit difficult for gaming on.. |

An entry level desktop will suit your needs and run under 500k won with a monitor included.
It is NOT that hard to get home. A computer tech can tear it down for you (20k won) and it will fit into a SMALL box when everything is removed from the case.
Alternatively you can get a portable hard drive to dump your data onto and sell the system when it is time to go home.
Desktops are double the bang for 1/2 the bucks when compared to laptops.

Do what I'm going to do and pick up a laptop on your way out of Korea; in the interim, pick up a mid-priced desktop and a decent monitor. You can take the monitor with you, and crud up your hard drive and not care. |

I prefer desktops, but if you aren't willing to find a buyer when the time comes, I'd go laptop. It's going to be nearly as much hassle to tear down and box up a destop as it is to sell it.
However, if it was me I'd buy a desktop, sell it before I leave, and put my stuff on a removable hard drive if I had data I wanted to keep. |

Thanks for the advice. I'd rather get a desktop too. |

I have 2 laptops and a desktop. The only time a laptop gets used is when I need to do some work at school. I give my vote to a nice desktop with an external drive as well as the internal. |

Strange advice. I think you have this backwards. |
